ABOUT
Name: Cara Feain-Ryan
Age (in 2026): 27
Sport/discipline: Athletics – 3000m Steeplechase
Coach/es: Ben Norton
Major Goal/s for 2026: If selected my goal is to win a medal at the Commonwealth Games!
Most memorable sporting moment: 2023 FISU World University Games, I placed 1st in this event which was a surprise as I wasn’t the fastest ranked athlete going into the event and it was the first time I competed at the World University Games. I will always remember the feeling standing on top of the podium in the green and gold uniform.
What do you like most about your sport? I love that in distance running is honest, what you put in is what you get out. There’s something really powerful about pushing your physical limits and constantly chasing the question: how fast can I go? That challenge is what drives me every day.
Who/What inspires you to achieve your best in sport? I lost my Dad to a brain tumour when I was nine, and he has always been my biggest inspiration. He motivates me to make the most of the life I have and to be the best version of myself in everything I do. When things get tough, I come back to that perspective, it gives purpose to what I’m chasing.
Favourite food/drink: I love coffee, I wouldn’t survive the early morning training sessions without it!
Favourite song/music: My favourite artists to listen to while running are Glass Animals and Jungle.
Favourite movie: Good Will Hunting
