Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for a 2026 QGF grant, athletes need to meet the following criteria:
- Are registered with a Queensland Sporting Association
- Compete in a sporting event that is included in the 2026 Commonwealth Games
- Be a junior or senior national representative, and/or have world rankings indicative of potential to represent Australia at a major championship
- Priority will be given to athletes who do not receive substantial funding from another source (eg: Australia Direct Athlete Support Grants, Major sponsorship)
- Be a good role model and embrace the values of the Commonwealth Games
- Be prepared to comply with the requirements of the Grant
Closing Dates
Applications for 2026 QGF Future Stars Grants close at 5pm on Friday 19 December 2025. Late applications will not be accepted.
Interview Process
Applicants will be short listed and invited to attend an online interview with directors of Queensland Games Foundation Ltd. Interviews will take place during January and February 2026, and the best candidates will be offered a grant.
Requirements
Requirements of successful grant recipients are:
- To commit to their training and preparation for the 2026 Commonwealth Games
- To complete an online interview with 1-2 QGF board members in late January and February prior to selection
- To perform a minimum of two QGF approved community engagement activities (If athletes are unable to commit to the community engagement activities, they will not be eligible to receive an award).
- To provide photographs, a bio and social media links (optional) to be included on the QGF website
Awarding of Grants
2026 grants will be awarded in late February/March. Payment of these will be 50% at the start of the Grant period, and the balance paid on completion of the community engagement requirements.
